Adds Splash of Color to Fine Dining in Gadsden, AL
Blu. Chop House
REMIND YOURSELF THAT YOU'RE STILL IN GADSDEN AL.
Blu. Chop House, the newest restaurant to open in Gadsden, Alabama, is also the city's first Fine Dining venue. While serving up locally procured prime cuts of meats, the freshest seafood and innovative American fare with hints of Cajun, Creole and Italian nuances, the restaurant's physical layout is reminiscent of 'big city' dining scenes that are akin to those found in New York, Las Vegas or L.A. Once you walk into Blu., you have to remind yourself that you are (surprisingly) still in Gadsden.
HE WANTED TO OPEN A RESTAURANT
The “Blu.” vision was the brainchild of Franco Antonelli, a long-time Gadsden resident, businessman and restauranteur. With the assistance of his son, Alex DiMare, who is a Food and Beverage Professional and Certified Sommelier, coupled with the culinary genius of Chef J.P. Pendergrass, a recipe for a first-class, fine dining venture was brought to fruition. The goal was to provide something new and exciting to Gadsden that had never been done before, as well as create a top-notch dining presentation that allowed locals to 'stay home', instead of trekking to larger, nearby cities like Birmingham or Montgomery for a special dining experience. Fine dining can now be experienced in Gadsden's own back yard.
THE PERFECT MENU
Recent, seasonal menu offerings include a Charcuterie Board with imported meats and cheeses, Burrata with heirloom tomatoes complimented with a basil pesto, a 22 oz double Bone-in Duroc Pork Chop with a Creole mustard demi, a 16 oz. Boneless Ribeye (that can be paired with one of a choice of four glorious sauces on the side), and the Crab meat Mac and Cheese.
A GENEROUS AND COMFORTABLE BAR SPACE
Blu. Chop House also offers a generous and comfortable bar space that can accommodate up to 15 people, as well as high-top bar tables that provide for both dining, or just cocktails. Smooth traditional and progressive Jazz tunes accentuate a relaxed ambiance for consummate enjoyment. The progressive Wine list offers a non-intimidating mix of traditional and esoteric varietals that appeals to all palettes, and the seasonal Specialty cocktails are all hand-crafted from an eclectic effort. The downstairs 'Cellar', which houses the bottles of wine is being cultivated to operate as a Wine and Spirits outlet and private Tasting Room in the near future.
The restaurant is aptly nestled in Downtown Gadsden, bringing a new shade of 'Blu' to historic Broad St.
Although reservations for Blu. Chop House are not necessary, they are strongly recommended due to the buzz it has created since opening in May, 2016. Besides, who wants to wait to get a taste of Blu.?
